Pierre Post 8 will be on the road today and then back home on Wednesday facing both Sioux Falls teams starting with Sioux Falls West in a matinee doubleheader.
Both Sioux Falls teams missed the state tournament last year with West being the 12 seed and East being upset in the best-of-three series against Rapid City Post 320. This year, though, both Post 15 teams are expected to make a run at the state tournament so wins against the two teams can garner plenty of seed points by the end of the season. Pierre continues its gauntlet to start the season after playing doubleheaders against Harrisburg and Brookings. Also with back-to-back games pitching will be a factor for the Eights. Pierre will also see Brandon Valley next Monday and while pitching will be back to full strength, it still will end the gauntlet before facing some non South Dakota teams.
First pitch is at 3:00 this afternoon. KCCR will have coverage of Wednesday’s doubleheader with coverage beginning at 4:45 with first pitch at 5:00 with Wyatt Burichka and Blake Dean on the call.
