PIERRE, (KCCR) –A Lower Brule man is sentenced for getting in the way of a Tribal police officer. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says U-S District Judge Eric Schulte sentenced 28 year-old Isiah Hardin to four years and eight years in federal prison last week. Hardin was indicted by a federal grand jury last December. He pleaded guilty this past February. Parsons says Hardin was involved in an incident on the Lower Brule Indian Reservation on June 7th of 2025. Parsons says a Bureau of Indian Affairs officer approached Hardin as he was standing in the middle of a street and yelling loudly. Hardin was agitated and began to struggle with the officer. Hardin then kicked the officer and hit the officer several times causing serious injuries that required surgery to repair. In addition to the 56 month federal prison term, Hardin will have to serve three years of supervised release after the prison term and pay 100-dollars to the federal crime victim’s fund. Hardin was taken by the U-S Marshal’s Service to begin serving his sentence.
