The Pierre Governor softball team would drop a 9-3 decision on the road on Friday to the Sturgis Scoopers as the Govs fall to 5-12 with just two games remaining in the regular season.
Sturgis would score seven runs in the first three innings including four first innings runs. Pierre would get two back in the top of the second as Taryn Spruill would drive in Ava Nelson and Ally Keyes. Nelson would double in the top of the sixth to score Keyes making it a six run game, but the Govs were unable to catch up to the Scoopers as Sturgis banged out 16 hits, all singles in the win. Charlie Hull would be tagged with the loss giving up all nine runs in six innings pitched with two walks and three strikeouts. Sturgis improves to 6-8 on the season.
Pierre will travel to Tea to face the Titans on Tuesday before hosting Harrisburg on Thursday to close out the regular season. First pitch is at 4:00 Tuesday in Tea.
