PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man has been indicted on multiple counts of First Degree Rape, Fourth Degree Rape and Sexual Contact with a Child Under 16. According to an Affidavit of Probable Cause for Warrantless Arrest on file in Hughes County, officers responded to a possible suicide call in early May. While on that call, officers learned of a possible sexual assault. The Affidavit states 33 year-old Jarrett High Bear was at home with the victim when two others left to get pizza. High Bear allegedly used the Live 360 app to track the two. He then moved to a couch where the 13 year-old victim was at. He then allegedly touched the victim’s chest and she asked him to stop. High Bear tried then to get the victim to a bedroom. He then stood in front of the victim, lowered his pants and forced the victim to perform oral sex. The affidavit later states High Bear turned the victim around where he proceed to have sex with the victim. With the Indictment, High Bear is facing 11 charges. According to the South Dakota Attorney General’s office the crimes occurred from January of 2018 to March of this year. High Bear is being held on a 25-thousand dollar cash bond at the Hughes County Jail. Arraignment is set for May 26th.
