The Pierre Governor softball team will take on the Mitchell Kernels this afternoon in the second game this week and the first of two straight makeup games for the Govs.
Pierre has dropped eight straight and are now 4-10 on the season, but will take on the 3-11 Kernels who are sitting behind the Govs in the Class AA standings. Pierre is currently 13th with Mitchell 14th in the standings. However, the Kernels have won two of the last three heading into today’s contest with wins over Sturgis and Spearfish as the Govs will take on Sturgis on the road on Friday. Pierre has just four games left in the regular season with a trip to Tea and then hosting Harrisburg to close out the season next week Thursday.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 at the Riggs High School Softball field in Pierre.
