For the second straight year, the Muskegon Lumberjacks are heading to the Clark Cup Championship with a 6-2 win over the Madison Capitols at home on Monday.
Madison would score two quick goals in the first period to take a 2-0 lead, but the Lumberjacks would start their comeback with a goal from Anthony Thomas-Maroon. Rudolf Berzkains would tie the game in the second and score his second of the game giving the Lumberjacks a 4-2 lead at the end of two periods. Muskegon would go 4-6 on the power play while Madison was just 1-5. Once again Muskegon would limit the Capitols to be under 10 shots on goal in each of the three periods. It’s the second straight series Muskegon would win games four and five to take the series. Pierre’s Carter Sanderson will play in his second straight championship series
Muskegon will advance to the Clark Cup Championship and will face either Sioux Falls or Fargo starting this coming weekend. The Stampede and Force will play Tuesday in Sioux Falls in the decisive game five.
