It’s the final home meet of the season for the Pierre Governor track and field team as the Govs will host the Capital City Qualifiers with 15 total teams in town with six from the local area.
The Govs will host Huron and Aberdeen Central from Class AA with Stanley County, Cheyenne-Eagle Butte, Crow Creek and Mobridge-Pollock coming from Class A and then Sully Buttes, Jones County, Gettysburg, Hoven being some of the teams from Class B in the local area. The regular season is winding down for track and field with Pierre going for the ESD meet on Saturday and then teams from Class A and B will have their big regional meets next week to solidify and qualify for state meet spots. This will be Pierre’s third and final home meet of the season and the first meet which didn’t move from the original scheduled date. It’s also senior recognition for the Pierre Governors and Misty Larson, head coach of the Pierre Governor girls team says it’s important to recognize the seniors who have been able to compete in all three scheduled home meets for the season…
With the ESD coming up on Saturday, Larson doesn’t necessarily use this as a tune up meet, but certainly getting ready for a big weekend…
