The Muskegon Lumberjacks would get the game winning goal in game two from Pierre’s Carter Sanderson and the captain evens the series at 1-1 game apiece with the Madison Capitols in the USHL Eastern Conference Finals.
Madison would win 2-1 in game one on Friday as Sanderson would take a shot up high from the goalie’s paddle, but it didn’t deter him in game two as he would score the goal to give Muskegon a 4-3 lead to help with the 5-3 win with just under four minutes left in the third period. Sanderson scored his third playoff goal and finished with a plus/minus of three. He was also named the first star of the game for the second time in the last three games. Caleb Heil, the Madison goalie, finally gave up multiple goals in a game for only the second time all playoffs.
Sioux Falls Stampede and Fargo Force would also split its two games on the weekend as the series will go to Fargo tied at 1-1.
The series will shift to Madison for games three and four Friday and Saturday this coming weekend.
