The Pierre Governors would fall 13-8 to O’Gorman and 7-5 to Tea on Saturday in Sioux Falls as senior McKenzi Flottmeyer would get her 100th career strikeout.
In the first game of the day, O’Gorman would score in every inning except the sixth as the Lady Knights and Govs would be tied 3-3 after the first and then led 6-5 after three innings. The four run fourth helped but the Lady Knights ahead to stay ahead even though the offense didn’t give in to the lead of O’Gorman. Ally Keyes, Micah Buffalo and Presley Spies each had a double with Spies also having a triple as she drove in three runs in the loss. Buffalo had two RBIs. Charlie Hull went the first three innings giving up six earned runs on eight hits while Flottmeyer went the final four innings giving up three earned on six hits with four strikeouts.
In game two, the extra innings would be the high scoring part of the game in the 7-5 loss with Tea scoring six runs in the top of the eighth and Pierre scoring four in the bottom of the eight, coming up just short. Hull had the sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game. Spies and Flottmeyer each had an RBI in the bottom of the eighth but couldn’t break through the tie the game. Emma Theilen had two hits with a triple as Flottmeyer would get five strikeouts in the circle allowing 13 hits with five earned runs and a walk in seven and a third innings of work before Hull got the final two outs in the eighth.
