PIERRE, (KCCR) — A number of independent candidates have filed valid signature petitions to jump the primary election in June and head right to the general election in November. Jason Seamons of Draper is running as an independent for Auditor in Jones County. There is are Auditor candidates up for the primary in Jones County. It’s a similar situation in Mellette County where Jenny Gailbraith has filed independently for Auditor with no scheduled primary candidates. In Lyman County, Jessica Manger has turned petitions for Auditor as an independent and will face the winner of a Republican primary between Abby Martin and Misti Ramser. Mellette County will see a three-way general election in November for sheriff. Lonnie Schultz is unopposed in the primary however Thomas Keller and Brandon Watson have turned in petitions as independent candidates. Also in Mellette County, independent Hailey Gallant will challenge Republican Darci Cox for Register of Deeds in November.
