The Pierre Governor softball team would fall to the Stevens Raiders Thursday afternoon 11-5 as the Govs couldn’t win three straight and Stevens remains unbeaten on the season.
Pierre jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on an RBI double by Micah Buffalo. Pierre tied the game on a solo shot from Ava Nelson in the top of fourth to make it 2-2, but it would be a seven run bottom of the fourth to doom the Governors in the loss which included a three run homer from Hazel Russell her second homer of the game. Ally Keyes and Nelson each had an RBI single and Presley Spies had a solo homer in the top of the sixth but it wasn’t enough to come back in the loss. McKenzi Flottmeyer would take the loss in the circle going three and one third innings allowing nine runs on 11 hits with a walk and two strikeouts.
Pierre falls to 4-3 on the season and will be in Sioux Falls this weekend to face both O’Gorman and Tea for its fourth and fifth games of the season.
