PIERRE, (KCCR) — Three banks including First National Bank of Pierre along with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa have awarded 43-thousand 750-dollars to Teammates Mentoring chapters in South Dakota. That money comes from the Member Impact Fund. The matching grant program will result in Federal Home Loan Bank awarding over 12-point-nine million dollars in funding for affordable housing and community development in South Dakota, Alaska, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands. Other South Dakota banks helping with the grant include First National Bank, Sioux Falls and Dakotaland Federal Credit Union in Huron. The grant money will support TeamMates communities with a shared footprint to serve more students. Students in the TeamMates mentoring program end up having better grades and attendance and fewer office referrals. TeamMates programming is available in Pierre and Fort Pierre, Belle Fourche, Custer, Hermosa, Huron, Lead-Deadwood, Sioux Falls, Spearfish and Rapid City.
