The Eastern Conference Semifinals will have a fifth and decisive game five on Tuesday as the Muskegon Lumberjacks and Dubuque Fighting Saints would split games three and four Friday and Saturday in Muskegon.
The defending USHL champions would have to play at home without its captain and Pierre native Carter Sanderson the last two games as he recovers from a concussion. The Fighting Saints would get the win on Friday 5-2 with a 3-1 lead at the end of two periods. Viktor Norringer and Jack Christ each had goals for Muskegon. With their backs against the wall, Muskegon would come out firing in the second period on Saturday with a 3-0 lead and led 4-0 before Dubuque would make it a 4-2 final. Carl Axelsson had 31 saves on 33 shots and Drew Stewart had two goals for the Lumberjacks to force a game five back in Dubuque, Iowa. Sanderson plans to be back for game five in the winner-take-all game.
Puck drop for game five is at 7:05 on Tuesday in Dubuque. The winner of game will take on Madison in the Eastern Conference Finals. The Sioux Falls Stampede are hosting Lincoln in game five in the other game five in the Western Conference Semifinals.
