What turned out to be a beautiful day, other than the wind, the Pierre Governors would host the Legion Relays on Thursday instead of Friday as the Govs would pick up nine total wins on the day.
Pierre would get three wins individually from Charlee Williams-smith in the 100, 200 and 400 runs while also teaming with Emlyn Swanson, Zoey Bauer and Brooke Hansen to win the 4×100 relay. Emery Larson, Harper Schafer, Devyn Van Roekel and Gwen Richter would win the 4×800 relay for the five total girls victories. Karson Walti had two wins for Pierre, in the 100 and part of the 4×100 relay team along with Carter Schiefelbein, Porter Hunsley and George Rapp. Corde Austin would win the long jump for Pierre and Cactus Korkow grabbed the win in the discus throw. Other top finishes for the girls, Swanson would be second in the long jump and 200 meters while also placing second in the 4×400 relay with Reed Curry, Josephine Wurtz and Zoey Bauer. Austin was also second in the boys triple jump while Walti, Schiefelbein, Jerren Deal and Rapp would place second in the 4×200 relay race. Overall Pierre had a total of 38 top five finishes as the Governor girls scored second in team points while the boys team was third on the day.
Stanley County
The Stanley County Buffaloes traveled across the river to participate in the legion relays and would get its best finish from Paxton Deal placing second in the long jump. Both Eddie Duffy in the triple jump and Jace Hand in the javelin throw would place fifth on the boys side as the three were the top five finishes for the Buffaloes. The Lady Buffs had its best finish from Brianna Sargent in the 400 meters placing sixth. The Buffaloes did finish with a total of 13 top ten finishes on the afternoon in Pierre.
Lyman
The Lyman Raiders came away with a couple of second place finishes being just one of two class B teams at the event. Cole Kieffer in the 110 meter hurdles and Brooke Montgomery in the 100 meters each placed second on the day for the Raiders. Chloe Collins was third in the 300 meter hurdles for the three top five finishes. Overall Lyman had 18 top ten finishes.
