The Pierre Governor baseball team would dominate the Huron Tigers on the road on Tuesday with an 11-1 and 16-1 doubleheader sweep as the Govs have now won 10 straight.
Pierre scored in each inning except for the fifth including a five run sixth to get the 10 run lead in the game one win. Parker O’Bryan, Will Eilers and Will Danburg each had two RBIs in the wins as O’Bryan, Eilers and Tripp Lindekugel each had three hits with Lindekugel being a home run shy of the cycle. Pierre peppered 18 hits in game one as Bryson Wallman would go the distance for a six inning complete game giving up just one run on five hits with four walks and a strikeout on 71 pitches. Six runs were unearned for the Tiger pitching staff.
In game two, Pierre used an eight run inning in the third to take an 8-0 lead and then scored six runs in the fifth to go up 16-1 to get the 10 run rule win in game two as Jerren Deal had four RBIs which included a two run triple as Porter Hunsley, Sutton Sonnenschein and Brecken Fuhrman each brought in two runs each. Carter Schiefelbein and Lindekugel each had three hits in the win as Pierre had another 14 hits in the game. Hudson Shaffer was about as efficient as it gets on the mound going all five innings allowing just four hits, one unearned run with two walks and four strikeouts and only threw 59 pitches for the win. The two pitchers are a big lift going into the weekend as Wallman is the only pitcher unavailable for Friday and everybody will be available heading into Saturday.
Pierre has now won 10 in a row and are 12-4 overall and 10-4 in South Dakota games. Pierre will host Spearfish on Friday and Rapid City Central on Saturday with first pitch at 5:00 Friday and 1:00 Saturday. All four games will be on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports.
