The Pierre Governor softball team will be on the road for the third time this season in four games as the Govs will take on the Brookings Bobcats this afternoon.
Both teams are coming in at 2-1 on the season as the two teams have both beaten Aberdeen Central while Brookings beat Yankton and the Govs lost to the Gazelles. Brookings lone loss is an 11-10 defeat to Brandon Valley as the Bobcats did bounce back to beat Aberdeen Central 19-2 on Tuesday. This afternoon it’s the home opener for the Bobcats. Pierre, who beat Watertown 7-3 on Tuesday, got a great pitching performance by McKenzi Flottmeyer in the circle having 12 strikeouts and did not allow a free pass. If the Govs can continue to keep from giving up walks or hit batters, the offense will keep them in every game as the Govs have scored 34 runs in three games.
First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 this afternoon from Brookings High School.
