The Pierre Governor girls golf team is finally beginning its season on Thursday as the Govs travel to Harrisburg for the opening invite of the season.
Golf is the last spring sport to get rolling as golf courses around the state aren’t all quite open until usually late March to early April. The Governors have been able to be at Hillsview Golf Course for the majority of their practices with the practice beginning after the course opened for the year. The Governors will get a chance to play in Harrisburg on Thursday before then having a two day competition in the Rapid City area on Monday and Tuesday next week. 15 AA teams will be in Harrisburg today. Last season Hadley Hart finished tied for 15th in the state tournament last year and returns for her senior year. Hart says golf is a self improvement game and she’s going to continue to work at being at the top of her game throughout the year…
Hart returns with Drew Rechtenbaugh as the other senior along with Sittie Kassan a junior. Tiffany Benham, head coach of the Pierre Governors says those three will be the leaders of this year’s team…
Benham says it’s been good to be outside practicing compared to other years before the first meet of the season…
Benham says for the first meet the girls don’t need to worry about their scores…
Tee time is at 9:00 AM at the Spring Creek Golf Course in Harrisburg.
