The Pierre Governor softball team would grab its home opening win on Tuesday, knocking off the Watertown Arrows with a 7-3 score scoring six runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Pierre would open the game with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first scoring on an error, but Watertown would take its first lead 2-1 in the top of the third also taking advantage of an error and Alexa Brown picking up the go-ahead RBI on a ground out. In the bottom of the fourth, the first six girls would reach base which included three singles, a double, a walk and an error as Micah Buffalo had an RBI single to tie the game and Ava Nelson drove in two runs on a double. Millie Johnson would add on the final RBI of the inning with a base hit as the Govs had six of its seven hits in the inning. McKenzi Flottmeyer would throw a complete game in the circle allowing just three runs, one earned, on three hits with 12 strikeouts and did not walk or hit a batter on 99 pitches.
Pierre improves to 2-1 on the season and will head back on the road on Thursday to face the Brookings Bobcats. First pitch is at 4:00.
