The Pierre Governor Track and Field team had a terrific day on Friday in Huron as the Govs would set seven new meet records while picking up 13 wins on the day.
For the Governor boys they would set two new meet records while picking up six of the 13 wins. Lincoln Dilges would set the new 110 meter hurdles with a 14.72 while Corde Austin set the new high jump record at 6’4. Austin would also win the long jump while Karson Walti would win the 100 meter dash, Caleb Morris winning the 800 and 1600 meter run. Overall the boys had 26 top ten finishes in Huron.
The Governor girls set six new meet records as Charlee Williams-Smith had three individual meet records with the 100, 200 and 400 meter runs. Williams-Smith was part of the 4×400 relay team to set a new record with Emlyn Swanson, Emery Larson and Ellen Hart while the team of Gwen Richter, Harper Shaffer, Devyn Van Roekel and Larson would set the 4×800 relay record. Larson also had the 1600 meter run win and the team of Cienna Tipton, Audrey Norton, Allison De Mers and Elaina Round would win the medley relay race. The Governor girls had 24 top ten finishes for a total of 50 top ten finishes between the boys and girls teams.
