The Oahe Capitals PeeWee A and C teams will compete at the state tournaments this weekend with the PeeWee A team in Brookings and the C team in Rapid City.
For the PeeWee A’s, the Caps are coming in as the four seed and will take on Mitchell tonight in the first round of the state tournament at 5:00. Oahe went 9-8-1 on the season and overall was 2-1-1 against the Marlins beating Mitchell both times at home and then losing and tying to the Marlins in Mitchell. Oahe is looking for the first round win to most likely go after the top seed Brookings in the state semifinals who they played tough in a 4-2 loss in the last game of the season which the Rangers did not lose in the regular season. Oahe is led by Luke Morris who scored 26 goals on the season.
The PeeWee C team is only guaranteed two games this weekend with only being six teams in total. If the Caps win Friday night they will play all three days, but a loss will put them in the consolation championship on Saturday. Oahe is the five seed at 6-11-0-1 and will face Watertown at 8:00 Central Time tonight. The Caps went 1-3 against the Lakers. With a win the Caps will face the top seed Rushmore Thunder who they did beat earlier in the year. Oahe is led by Brecken Hoffman’s incredible 62 goals this season in 18 games to lead the PeeWee C state.
