The Oahe Lady Capitals would be shutout 6-0 on Saturday at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre by the Sioux Falls Flyers with a dominating first period.
Sioux Falls outshot the Caps 17-1 in the first period and had a 3-0 lead after the first with two goals from Ragyn Peska who finished the day with a hat trick and four points overall. Emma Honner, Scarlett Black and Rebecca Harris all scored in the win for the Flyers as Moriah Lincoln had a 15 save shutout in net as the Flyers improve to 18-1 overall and the Lady Caps fall to 13-6. Taylah Allerdings stopped 20 of 25 shots while Kylee Fromm finished stopping eight of nine shots in relief. It’s the first time all season the Caps have lost back-to-back games this season. It’s also solidified the Caps will be the three seed heading into the state tournament in three weeks.
Oahe will finish the season next weekend hosting Brookings next Saturday and traveling to Aberdeen on Sunday. Coverage will be on Saturday only next weekend on Capital City Rock and on YouTube at Capital City Rock Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
