PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man is facing multiple charges after kicking an officer among other offenses. Pierre Police Captain Kyle Cummings says officers were called an area near the entrance to Mickelson Pond Friday morning around 4:15 am for a report of a vehicle that had gone off Fourth Street. Responding officers discovered a vehicle stuck in a marshy area near the Mickelson Pond entrance with no driver. As officers investigated the vehicle, police were dispatched to a report of someone trying to steal a trailer hitch from a vehicle. Officers executed a search warrant at the home of 20 year-old Jarrett Howe of Pierre. During the arrest Howe refused to cooperate and even kicked an officer. Howe was taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges including Obstructing an Officer, Simple Assault Against Law Enforcement, Intentional Damage to Property, Trespassing, Driving on a Suspended License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle and Possession of Tobacco Under the Age of 21.
