Team South Dakota 16U Girls would fall for the second time at the USA Hockey Tier II National Tournament on Thursday with a 3-1 loss to the California Goldrush.
The loss doesn’t eliminate Team SD from quarterfinal contention but they will have to win on Friday and get some help to ensure moving on in the tournament. Sioux Falls’ Rebecca Harris would net the only goal of the game for Team SD as it did give South Dakota a 1-0 lead through the first period. However a goal in the second and two in the third from the Goldrush would beat Team SD forcing them into a tough spot heading into Friday. Sioux Falls’ Moriah Lincoln would make 21 saves on 24 shots in the loss.
Team SD will face Belle Tire of Michigan at 2:00 Central Time on Friday. It is a must win for South Dakota. Belle Tire is 1-1 with an overtime loss.
