PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre woman was arrested on Sunday following a report of an assault. Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle says officers were called around 1:40 pm to the 400 block of South Robert Street to investigate the call for service. Officers learned through their investigation that a female victim had been assaulted by 22 year-old Kris Estes of Pierre. Pelle says the victim attempted to get away while being assaulted however, Estes prevented the victim’s escape. Police also learned that at the time of the assault a small child was present in the residence. Officers also discovered drug paraphernalia during Estes’ arrest on assault and other charges. Estes was taken to the Hughes County Jail on charges of Simple Assault-Domestic Violence; False Imprisonment; Contributing to the Abuse or Neglect of a Minor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
