Fort Pierre Man Gets Suspended Prison Time For Shooting Dog, High Speed Chase

FORT PIERRE — A 26 year-old Fort Pierre man is given a suspended prison term for his role in a Stanley County high-speed chase and killing of dog with a gun. Sixth Circuit Court Judge Margo Northrup sentenced Wyatt Myers to two years in the South Dakota State Penitentiary with that time being suspended if Myers follows several conditions. Myers will see some jail time, 30 days in jail and restitution. Myers is to pay the family of the dog he killed 500-dollars, 18-thousand 900-dollars for damage to a fence, 1500-dollars in fines and other financial obligations. Other conditions of suspending the prison time include no possession of weapons, alcohol, drug and anger management evaluation and treatment and three years of probation. Myers was sentenced on charges of Aggravated Eluding, DUI and Reckless Use of a Firearm.
