Work To Begin Monday On U-S Highway 83 South Of White River To White River

WHITE RIVER — Work is about to begin on a second stretch of U-S Highway 83 from the White River to the town of White River, an 11-mile distance. Construction work will take place in two zones, at the north and south ends and will work toward the middle. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place during the construction. No overweight or overlength loads will be permitted in the work zone until November 19th. Flaggers and pilot cars will control traffic in the work zones. Motorists should be aware of suddenly slowing traffic, reduced speeds and construction workers and equipment in work zones. Sections of Highway 83 will be dirt or gravel at times during construction which could lead to temporary closures during adverse weather because the road surface is too muddy for safe travel. The section of Highway 83 north of the White River had been under construction in 2019 with work being delayed at times due to wet weather. Work on that section has since been completed.
