Knox Selected for South Dakota Golf Hall of Fame

Former Pierre Governor Golf Coach, John Knox has been selected to be inducted into the South Dakota High School Golf Hall of Fame.

Knox graduated from Onida High School in 1961 and attended Huron College graduating in 1966. Knox returned to the Capital City area where he was a teacher in Blunt and also served as s coordinator for the Junior Golf Program at Memorial Golf Course in Huron. He then began teaching and coaching at Sully Buttes beginning in 1971 and continued to be a volunteer golf coach through 1975. Knox then took the job at Pierre to be the coach of the boys and girls from 2009 until 2018 when he retired. He still works part-time with Hillsview Golf Course in Pierre.

Knox will be presented into the Hall of Fame just before the awards ceremony for the Girls State AA Golf Tournament at Bakker Crossing in Sioux Falls on June 8. The other three inductees include John Brown from Clark, Clark Gusso from Belle Fourche and Bud Postma from Madison.
