Spending Bills Connected To Pierre Gain Approval By The South Dakota Senate

PIERRE — Three bills with major spending authority relating to interests in Pierre have passed the South Dakota Senate. Senate Bill 93 would send 20-million dollars to the state railroad trust fund to be used as federal grant match money to improve the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern Railroad line from Fort Pierre to Rapid City. Senate Bill 33 also gained approval on the Senate Floor. It would provide 100-thousand dollars for the U-S-S Pierre Commissioning Committee to help with costs relating to the Commissioning of the Littoral Combat Ship. The Senate also approved Senate Bill 162 with would appropriate money to five South Dakota airports including Pierre Regional Airport for marketing to make up for coronavirus losses. All four measures were approved on 34 to zero margins with a single vote excused. All four bills will now move on to the House floor for further approval.
