Pierre Swim Team to Host Outdoor Pool Benefit

PIERRE, S.D. –The Pierre Swim Team is serving up a St. Patrick’s Day meal all in the name of a new outdoor swimming pool.

The team is making corned beef and cabbage on Sunday, March 14 and is inviting the community to pick up a plate and make a free will donation to the outdoor pool project.

The swimmer are looking forward to the new pool and Melissa Hull, swim team spokesperson says it’s a great way to show support for the project.

Hull says that people who aren’t fans of corned beef and cabbage shouldn’t be deterred. They’ll have red potatoes, macaroni and cheese, dark rye bread and bread pudding with caramel sauce.

The meal will be served from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club on Ree Street. Socially distanced seating will be available or carryout meals are available too by calling 605.280.2150.

In March 2019, the Pierre City Commission approved a plan to replace Pierre’s 90-plus-year-old outdoor pool. The replacement plan, developed by a volunteer citizen committee, includes a $10-million base model paid for by the City and a fundraising initiative to pay for additional features. Final pool design is dependent on sponsorships and funds raised. For additional information, visit pierrepool.com.
