Ravnsborg Facing Misdemeanors For Fatal Crash With Pedestrian

PIERRE — South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg is facing three charges in connection to a vehicle pedestrian crash in September of 2020 that killed a Highmore man. Hyde County Deputy States Attorney Emily Sovell says all of the charges against Ravnsborg are misdemeanors….

None of the charges are directly tied to Ravnsborg striking and killing 55 year old Joseph Boever with his red Ford Taurus because state law doesn’t call for it…

Beadle County States Attorney Mike Moore is one of three outside prosecutors who assisted Sovell with examining evidence in the case and says the investigation was one of the best he’s ever seen…

Sovell says the evidence in the case shows Ravnsborg was on his phone east of Highmore just before entering the city and was not on the device when he struck Boever. Ravnsborg was also traveling two miles an hour over the speed limit leaving Highmore when the crash happened.
