Pierre Basketball Holds on for Win over Lakota Tech

The Pierre Governor girls basketball team led by nearly 20 points in each of the first three quarters but had to hold on to beat Lakota Tech 58-48, Tuesday night at Riggs High School.

The Governors were led by Remi Price with 23 points on the evening as she paced the Govs with 20 in the first half as they led 21-4 after the first and 39-21 at the break. However, Lakota Tech switched to zone to take away the hot hand of Price and the Tatanka started to climb back into the contest as they pulled within ten in the third quarter. Lakota Tech reached a single digit deficit but turnovers were too much for the Tatanka as they had 23 in the game while Pierre turned th ball over 18 times including 11 in the second half.

Shaylia Bravo scored 22 to lead Lakota Tech as they fell to 11-3 on the season.

Head Coach of the Pierre Governors, Kirk Beebout says he thought the Govs came out and played well defensively early on…

But Beebout was disappointed the Govs didn’t get stops in the second half…

The Govs will face Roosevelt and Lincoln this weekend and Beebout says this Roosevelt team is talented…

Pierre is on the road for two of the three games left in the season as they sit at 7-10 on the season. Tip-off is at 7:00 on Friday and 5:00 on Saturday in Sioux Falls.
