Oahe Capitals Open a Three Game Home Weekend

The Oahe Capitals have had plenty of road success this year taking wins in eight of the nine contests so far, but this weekend they get to enjoy the comfort of the Expo Center in Ft. Pierre when they host three games against Aberdeen and Sioux Center.

Friday night the Capitals take on the Aberdeen Cougars, who they beat on the road back on January 17 by an 8-1 margin. Keenan Howard had four points in the win while Kieran Duffy picked up the win with 21 saves.

On Saturday and Sunday the Sioux Center Storm are in town for two games as these two split their meetings last year at the Expo Center. The Caps did get the last laugh with a win over the Storm as they won in one of two state tournament games last year.

With the injury to Cord Ellis last weekend the Caps have to adjust their lines and head coach of the Oahe Capitals, Steve Steele says they’ve had to work in practice this week to figure how to adjust their lines…

Steele is trying to get both goalies to play every team once so this weekend Carter Shulz will play two, Friday and Sunday while Duffy will play one game on Saturday. Steele says it’s a treat to have two goalies playing at such a high level…

And Steele says having the right attitude and focus on this weekend is key with Rushmore and Brookings looming next weekend…

The Caps will look to remain perfect at home and remain out of the regulation loss column with puck drop at 8:00 on Friday, 7:00 on Saturday and 12:00 on Sunday. All three games can be heard on Capital City Rock and capitalcityrock.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
