Airshow Likely Postponed To 2022

PIERRE — Last year, plans were in the works for an Independence Day Weekend airshow at Pierre Regional Airport. Organizers decided to postpone the event to 2021 but Pierre Mayor Steve Harding says it’s likely the airshow will remain in a holding pattern until 2022…

The headlining attraction for the ‘Let Freedom Fly’ airshow is the Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds flight demonstration team, a north of the border version of the U-S Air Force Thunderbirds or Navy Blue Angels…

Harding says Pietz and the city are committed to making the air show happen eventually…

The 2020 airshow was scheduled to feature military demonstration flights with A-10 Warthog and F-18 Hornet aircraft in addition to the Canadian Snowbirds team.
