Stanley County Falls in Doubleheader in Gettysburg

The Stanley County Buffaloes made the hour trip up north to Gettysburg but the Potter County Battlers sent them back to Ft. Pierre with a couple of losses as the girls fell 53-13 and the boys lost 82-51.

The Lady Buffs held close in the first quarter trailing just 11-8 but couldn’t find its rhythm offensively as they scored just seven points after while the Lady Battlers controlled the glass and had numerous second chance points. Kayden Cronin led the way with 17 points for the Lady Battlers while Tyler Simon chipped in 11. Jordyn Sosa, Carlie O’Conner, Cadence Hand and Mattie Duffy all had three points for Stanley County on the night as the Lady Buffs fall to 1-14.

The Battlers led from midway in the first quarter throughout on Monday night as Grant Luikens caught fire for a game high 25 points but Cooper Logan wasn’t far behind scoring 23 for Potter County who shot near 50% from the floor on the evening. Nathan Cook finished with a solid night as he retrieved a double-double scoring a team high 19 and grabbing a game high 15 rebounds in the loss. Lathan Prince added 14 for Stanley County. The Buffs drop to 7-6 on the year.

The Lady Buffaloes have a quick turnaround as they host Miller tonight in Ft. Pierre. The Buffalo boys are off until Thursday when they host White River, both are standalone games. The varsity girls will start around 7:30 tonight.
