Gymnastics Finishes Sixth in ESD, Qualifies for State

The Pierre Governor gymnastics team finished in sixth place in Huron during the ESD competition edging out Aberdeen Central 134.1-133.95. The Governors finished in high enough to qualify for the state meet this coming weekend.

The Govs had its highest team total in the beam routine which was fifth place where they finished in seventh in the other three categories. Aberdeen Central finished in front of Pierre in the other three categories but the consistency of the Govs and the beam score propelled them over the Golden Eagles and into sixth place. The Governors finished in ninth place overall in AA and the top nine teams qualify for the state meet. Lincoln, Roosevelt and O’Gorman all finished inside the top nine to qualify with Mitchell, Watertown, Harrisburg, Brookings, Yankton and Pierre joining from the ESD.

You can see a full list of the results below. The Governors will compete in state on Friday and Saturday. Riverfront Broadcasting will talk with Head Coach Rebecca Feller on Wednesday on Coach’s Corner with the show beginning at 5:30.
