PIERRE — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a second person has died following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Tripp County. Department of Public Safety spokesman Tony Mangan says the crash happened six miles east of Winner at the junction of state highways 44 and 49 around 8:30 Wednesday night. Two people died and two others were injured when a 2017 KIA was struck by a Chevy GMT pickup. The pickup was south on Highway 49 when the 29 year-old male driver failed to stop completely at the junction of Highway 44, striking the westbound KIA. A 26 year-old female, who was not wearing a seat belt was thrown from the KIA. She was transported to a hospital in Winner where she died. A second passenger, a 56 year old female died Thursday after being transferred to a Rapid City hospital. The 30 year-old male of the KIA suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the pickup was wearing a seat belt and sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against both drivers in the crash.
