PIERRE, (KCCR) — A Pierre man was arrested Tuesday morning and charged with Stalking. Pierre Police Captain Kyle Cummings says patrolling officers observed a vehicle alarm going off around 5:15 am in the two-thousand block of East Park Street in southeast Pierre. The officers made contact with the vehicle’s owner, who told police 34 year-old Aaron Carda had a key fob for the vehicle and was continuously setting the vehicle’s alarm off and was repeatedly trespassing on the owner’s property. Officers proceeded to silence the alarm and remain nearby. A short time later, the alarm was again activated. Officers were able to locate Carda and recover the key fog with consent. Following the investigation, Carda was arrested and transported to the Hughes County Jail on the Stalking charge. Stalking in South Dakota is a Class One Misdemeanor, that carries a maximum penalty of a year in jail and a two-thousand dollar fine.
