Tonight is the Dig Pink night for the Pierre Governor volleyball team as the Govs host the O’Gorman Lady Knights before traveling to Sioux Falls to face Lincoln on Saturday.
The fundraiser tonight puts perspective on the game of volleyball tonight and the evening always has a great atmosphere for the night and the Governors will wear their pink jerseys which they’ve been wearing over the course of October. Pierre is coming in at 1-14 and need to grab wins over the weekend to give themselves a chance to make the SoDak 16. However, the Govs are going to be facing the fourth and fifth teams in the standings as O’Gorman comes to town to play Pierre first. The Lady Knights are 15-8 heading into the night coming off a loss to Lincoln, the second time the Patriots beat the Knights. O’Gorman is 9-6 in Class AA games and 10-6 overall in South Dakota games with a win over Sioux Falls Christian who has beaten Brandon Valley.
The Lincoln Patriots are right above the Governors in the standings and 13-4 heading into the weekend. The Patriots don’t play tonight and will be rested heading into the game on Saturday. Lincoln did fall to Jefferson last week as the Cavaliers are coming on strong down the stretch of the season as they’ve moved to .500.
Coverage of tonight’s game will be at 6:00 with a 6:30 first serve. Saturday, coverage will start at 1:30 with a 2:00 first serve on KCCR and on YouTube at KCCR Sports with Jon Winkler on the call.
