FORT PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Fort Pierre City Council has approved setting a name for the area along Highway 14/83/34 entering the city. Fort Pierre Historic Sculpture Committee Chair Gloria Hanson says Tatanka Trail was a working title when the former highway right-of-way was being repurposed following construction of the new Waldron Bridge…
What they came up with isn’t far off…
Dupris the American Bison and Water Carrying Woman were gifted to the Committee for placement on the trail and Hanson says the Committee would like a centralized location for future work…
No tax dollars are being used for the sculptures. Much like the Trail of Governors in Pierre, the statues are privately funded then gifted to the city.
