PIERRE, (KCCR) — The deadline for second half property and mobile home tax payments are approaching. Hughes County Finance Officer Thomas Oliva says both applicable payments are due by the end of the business day on Friday October 30, or two weeks; 10 business days away. If your payment is mailed, it must be postmarked no later than Saturday, October 31st. Taxpayers in Hughes County can pay their taxes at the county’s website at hughescounty.org. However, in addition to the tax payment itself, a convenience will be added to online payments. Oliva encourages taxpayers to plan ahead to make payments on time or have the payment postmarked by the end of the month. Oliva’s duties also include running elections in Hughes County. The deadline to register to vote in the upcoming general election on November 2nd is this Monday, October 19th by five-pm. Voters failing to register by the five-pm Monday deadline will be forfeiting their right to vote for this year’s election.
