As the soccer season is down to the final week, the Pierre Governor teams are being recognized as six total players between the girls and the boys are honored on the All-ESD teams.
For the Governor girls, three juniors and a freshman are on this year’s team as Lexie Hillmer, Katelynn Taylor along with freshman Aubrey Fischer are joined with teammate and junior goalkeeper Emlyn Swanson. Swanson has helped the Governors to a 11-1-1 record recording seven shutouts during the regular season and the top seed in Class AA. After the first two rounds of the playoffs, Fischer leads the team with 11 goals while Hillmer has eight including the team leading seven assists. Taylor has the most minutes of anybody on the team, outside of the goalkeeper Swanson as she’s a big reason and help that Swanson has been able to have plenty of shutouts and easy saves with the work Taylor and the defense has done. But you can’t discredit Swanson’s ability in goal. To have six regular season shutouts and another two in the first round of the playoffs doesn’t happen by accident. Swanson is consistently in the right spot to make saves on great chances for the opponents and has earned everyone of her shutouts. In total, Swanson allows half a goal per game.
For the Governor boys, the two who you would expect gained All-ESD honors in their senior year. Caiden Ahartz and Jacoby LaRoche led the team in goals and assists throughout the season were strong leaders for the Govs. Both guys scored five goals each and Ahartz had four assists with LaRoche dropping in three. Pierre finished with a 3-6-4 record in the regular season. The two combined for 10 of the 16 goals and seven of the 10 assists.
