The Pierre Governors would move up a couple of spots and have an even better second day at the golf state tournament on Tuesday as Pierre places in sixth place and having two member be inside the top 25.
Tate Stoeser, who led the Governors in day one, would lead the Govs in day two to finish in 16th place over all as he would shoot a 73, just two over par on Tuesday as he had four birdies on the day. He would finish at seven over par for the tournament, nine shots back of the championship. Caleb Hutton would be at a 74, five shots better on the second day including three birdies to place tied for 23rd at 11 over par overall. Beckham McPeck would be a shot better on day two finishing at 13 over par for the tournament while Hudson Prunty would finish five shots better on the second day at 78. Pierre would have both days with four guys shooting in the 70s. Matthew Eberhard would finish at 20 over par and Rigley Kulesa at 25 over par for the state tournament. Individually, Drew Simon of O’Gorman would win a playoff hole, parring the hole to beat Lincoln’s Tyson Blom to win the AA state championship.
As a team, Pierre would finish at 46 over par, 614 for the tournament, beating out Washington for sixth place to take home the hardware. Pierre overtook Yankton and Jefferson along with passing up Washington on the second day. no team would pass the Governors from day one to day two. Lincoln would hold off Brandon Valley by two strokes to win the team state championship at 13 over par.
