(Gettysburg, SD) – The Sully Buttes Chargers and Gettysburg Lady Battlers would meet in Gettysburg for the second time this season. The Chargers were looking to pick up their second win of the season but Gettysburg would be victorious for the second time this season against the Chargers in four sets.
The Chargers claimed set one 27-25 in extra points after the first set saw no lead bigger than three. The Chargers only recorded two kills in the first set but the offense showed out. Sully Buttes would attack the open spaces. Sully Buttes had the lead at the right time and took set one after an ace from Jaycee Jaeger. Set two saw a quick 8-3 lead for Sully Buttes. The Lady Battlers would battle back to tie it up and would hold the one point lead for a while. The Chargers would regain the lead, but errors would be the deciding factor in set two as Gettysburg would hold on to win 25-23. Set three would see Gettysburg getting off to a hot start and never slowed down. While the Chargers would keep things close, the kills would come from Gettysburg recording another six kills in the third set. The Lady Battlers would take set three 25-17. The Chargers were needing to capture the fourth set to send it to the fifth and deciding set. Gettysburg though would jump to a big lead to begin the set and a lead the Chargers could not recover. They would fall 25-19 in the fourth set.
The Chargers fall to 1-15 and will be back on the road for their second of three straight against Philip on Thursday. The next broadcast will be Tuesday, October 6 in Highmore.
