The Pierre Governor soccer teams would both draw on Tuesday to close out the season as the girls would finish with a 0-0 tie and the Governor boys would tie 1-1.
The Governor girls would get a shutout from Emlyn Swanson with eight saves on the evening, her seventh shutout of the 13 game season. Pierre wraps up the season at 11-1-1 and will be the two seed while Harrisburg goes unbeaten at 12-0-2 with the draws to Yankton and now Pierre and will be the top seed in the state tournament. The regular season is not officially over until Thursday with a couple of more games to play across the state to determine the rest of the seeding.
The Governor boys would play a scoreless first half before the Govs would strike first with Logan Meier scoring in the 52nd minute as Caiden Ahartz would send a cross to the box which bounced to Meier to put into the back of the net. However, Harrisburg would get the tying goal late with five and a half minutes remaining on a wild sequence. After Carter Templeton had trouble grabbing the first initial shot, he was able to knock the ball free, but his cleat would get caught in the net tripping him and then the clearing attempt from Pierre went off a Harrisburg Tigers who was trying for a driving header and it would ricochet into the net to tie the game. Pierre will finish the regular season at 3-6-4 while Harrisburg finishes at 6-5-3. The Govs will wait for the final games to determine where they will go and who they will play.
