The Pierre Governor golf team would have a great day at the Brookings Country Club tying for third in the ESD Invite as Caleb Hutton and Beckham McPeck would get All-ESD honors.
Hutton would place eighth for Pierre at just three over par, actually tying for fifth place along with five others. Hutton would knock in a birdie on hole 13, a par three. McPeck would only be a shot behind him at four over par, finishing in 11th place. McPeck would birdie holes four and 14 in his first ESD competition. Matthew Eberhard would round out the top 20 as he would be at six over par, 78 and Hudson Prunty would be at seven over par, 79 in 25th to round out the Governors scoring. Tate Stoeser and Rigley Kulesa would finish at 10 and 11 over par respectively at 82 and 83. Mitchell’s Asher Dannenbring would win the ESD individual title at two under par, 70, beating out Watertown’s Johnathan Lake by three strokes. Hutton would be just two strokes back of second.
As a team, the Govs would tie Watertown at 20 over par, 308 for third place. The Govs did have the better finishing fifth place golfer with Stoeser better by a stroke. Brookings would win the ESD team title with a 15 over par, 303, beating Brandon Valley by two strokes at 305. Pierre would be just five shots of taking the ESD as the Govs had one of its best showings of the entire year.
