The Pierre Governor Tennis team will have a couple of flights looking for ESD championships and all nine flights competing in day two of the ESD tournament in Sioux Falls as the Govs are sixth.
Both Eliza Mayer and Adrian Hand in flights two and three would win their first round matches to advance to the championship semifinals as both are two seeds in their respective flights. The day began with Ainsley Dilges winning her play-in match in flight five, but will be competing in the consolation side on Tuesday. Elise Bowers in flight one and Avery Schwartz in flight five each would fall in the first round of the tournament and will in the consolation semifinals. Emma Barnett in flight six would fall in the first round, but flight six would be the only flight to play the semifinals and Barnett would win 8-3 advancing to the consolation championship as the sixth seed.
In doubles, both Bowers and Mayer and Schwartz and Dilges in flights one and three would win their play-in matches to get to the eight team tournament, but both would drop first round games and move to the consolation side. Hand and Gemma Stangeland in flight two would lose in the 4-5 matchup and will be playing in the consolations semifinals.
Overall, Pierre has 37 points to place sixth after the first day. Mitchell leads after day one with eight of the nine flights fighting for ESD titles.
