PIERRE, (KCCR) — In central South Dakota, the November general election is bringing very few contested races at the county level. In Mellette County there is a race for Register of Deeds and Sheriff. Republican Darci Cox will face Independent Haley Gallant for Register of Deeds while the Sheriff race includes Republican Lonnie Schultz and Independents Brandon Watson and Thomas Keller. The only other county level race outside of County Commission seats is in Lyman County for Lyman County Auditor. Republican Misti Ramser will take on Independent Jessica Manger. Of the contested elections at the county and legislative level there are 20 Republican candidate; 23 running as Independent with no party affiliation and 10 Democrats. The marquee races in the November are for U-S Senate, U-S House, South Dakota Governor, Secretary of State, Treasurer, Auditor, Public Utilities Commission and Commissioner of Schools and Public Lands.
