The Pierre Governor girls soccer team is an even 10-0 on the season after a 1-0 win in Yankton Friday night with the Governor boys earning a 0-0 draw.
Lexie Hillmer had the lone goal in the game for the Govs to give Pierre a 10-0 start with three games to play. Emlyn Swanson had seven saves to earn her fifth shutout of the season as the Govs have half its wins by shutout and have not allowed two goals or more in any game so far this season. Pierre remains one of two unbeaten teams with Harrisburg with the two teams set to square off in the final game of the regular season, but Pierre still has to play Sturgis and Aberdeen Central before getting to the meeting with the Tigers.
The Governor boys earn its third draw of the season as the Govs move to 2-5-3 on the season. It’s a gritty draw against the Yankton Bucks and Pierre finishes the week at 1-0-1 heading into the final three games of the season and the home finale on Tuesday against the Sturgis Scoopers. Pierre is still in 15th in the standings but can move it with the final three games.
Pierre will host Sturgis in the final home game of the regular season on Tuesday. Because of the Homecoming parade, both varsity games will begin at 3:00 at the PILC Fields.
