PIERRE, (KCCR) — Absentee balloting for November’s general election begins Friday. There are plenty of obvious and not so obvious races on ballots across central South Dakota. In Jones County Republican Lori Waldron and three Independents; Rodney Mann, Jake Lolley and Marty Roghair will compete for an at-large County Commission seat. Six people will be doing the same for a County Commission chair in Ziebach County. They include Republicans Tucker Stocklin, Rick Farlee and Troy Wall; Independent Casey Gage and Democrats Lee Brooks and Shane Farlee There are two County Commission races in Todd County for District’s One and Five. Republican Daniel Gudgel and Democrat Tom Carr and Independents Kyra Willcuts, Marshal Tinant and Dean Stiefel will run in District One. District Five is a two person race with Democrat Patsy Valandra vs Independent Craig Lafferty. The District Two County Commission seat in Mellette County is up for grabs with four candidates running. They include Republican Katherine O’Brien and Independents Joe Bechtold, Cecil Brandis, Jr. and Kirby Krogman Two County Commission races are up for grabs in Hyde County in District’s Three and Five with two candidates running for one seat each. In District Three Republican Dan LaMont faces Independent Ethan Thomas. In District Five, Republican Kevin Baloun will face Independent Dawn Rinehart.
