The Pierre Governor soccer teams would earn a sweep of the Tea Area Titans on Tuesday night on the road with the Governor girls winning 3-1 while the boys would comeback to win 3-2.
In the girls contest, Ivy Flottmeyer would score off a corner kick to get the scoring started for the Govs while Zoey Bauer made it 2-0 in the final minute of the first half. Lexie Hillmer would make it a 3-0 game before Tea would get its lone goal off the post to make it a 3-1 game as Emlyn Swanson made four saves. The Governors remain undefeated and are now 9-0 on the season.
The Pierre Governor boys would find themselves down 1-0 after the first half and then quickly down 2-0 early in the second half before the Govs started to mount its comeback. With just over 25 minutes remaining in the game, Jacoby LaRoche would score on a free kick to make it 2-1. Eight minutes later, Levi Hight would find the cross on his foot right in front of the keeper to tie the game at 2-2. Just minutes later, LaRoche would take a corner and Everett Norton would get a slight touch on the ball to redirect it pass the keeper and give the Govs the 3-2 lead. However, with just about four minutes remaining, Tea would get a penalty kick. Carter Templeton got just enough of the ball to send it up to the cross bar and bounce over to keep the Govs in the lead and pick up its second win of the season on a massive comeback. Pierre is now 2-5-2 on the season.
The Governors will take the momentum into Yankton on Friday against the Gazelles and Bucks. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 for the girls and the boys to follow at Crane Youngworth Field.
